At Volcano Coffee Works we've always prioritised making the most sustainable choices, and are constantly seeking out innovative new routes to a greener future.
Here’s just a few of the solutions we’ve put in place, so that together we can reduce our carbon footprint:
100% plastic-free and compostable coffee pods
Almost 30,000 coffee pods go to landfill each month and take 500 years to decompose, as the blend of aluminium and plastic is difficult to recycle and extremely long lasting. We’re thrilled to have found an entirely plastic-free solution for our coffee pods, which are also biodegradable and 100% industrially compostable. The capsules, lids and bag packaging are made from a bio-based cornstarch material. So when you've made your coffee, simply place this waste in your local authority food-waste collection bin. Easy.
What do we mean when we say compostable? Find out more about our compostable pods here.

All our coffee bags are 100% recyclable
Our coffee bags are made of LDPE (low density polyethylene), which is 100% recyclable and keeps your coffee as fresh as possible. LDPE is considered a very safe and clean flexible plastic.

Wholesale bags
All of our wholesale customers get their coffee packed in special wholesale-sized bags, saving over 150kg of plastic each year!
Reusable cups
Paper-based disposable coffee cups are commonly thought to be recyclable, but they’re usually lined with plastic. They are not readily recyclable, and they are not biodegradable. That’s why we encourage all our customers to use their own reusable cup, and offer a Huskee reusable cup, made from recycled plastic.

FirstMile bin collection
We work with FirstMile to ensure that we recycle and compost correctly. Their promise is ‘zero to landfill’, so anything that can't be recycled goes to a waste-to-energy facility where it's turned into energy to power homes.
