Do you offer different grinds and how do I know it will work?

For the best coffee experience at home, we recommend investing in a grinder so you can grind for your specific brew method. We recommend the Rhino Hand Grinder.

If you're not ready to take the plunge and buy a grinder just yet, we offer 2 options on our Ground Coffee page: Ground for filter suits Cafetiere, V60, Chemex and Aeropress while ground for espresso suits espresso machines and stovetop moka pots.

We are confident these will work for the vast majority of home brew kits. However, we cannot guarantee the perfect grind for every home machine and unfortunately do not accept returns based on this. If you have a question or would like advice, please get in touch with our team.

What makes your coffee the best?

Our coffee may taste awesome already, but Volcano Coffee Works is driven by always wanting better.

We're not just talking about better quality coffee here but our ultimate goal of delivering equal value to both our customers and the producers who exist at opposite ends of the supply chain. By advocating Ethical Trading standards we ensure that we're constantly improving buying practices with our coffee producers, and that everyone who makes our coffee shares in our successes.

Our coffee is about so much more than the liquid in your cup. It takes many more hands to produce small batch, specialty coffee than it does to turn out commodity coffee, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

How long does the coffee last?

We suggest you drink the coffee within 21 days from the roast date on the bag. As a fresh product, coffee loses its flavour over time but it doesn't have a "best before date" ..technically.

What is the date on my bag of coffee?

The date on the bag of coffee is the 'best before' date (12 months after Roasted Date). However, coffee doesn’t 'go off' as such and we often leave it to the drinkers discretion as to when to drink. We find coffee tasting ideal anywhere from one week to five weeks (although it can still taste great after this).

What if I'm not happy?

We always love to hear from you and consider feedback a gift whether it's good or bad. If you are missing an item or have received an incorrect or damaged item, please contact us by emailing our team at orders@volcanocoffeeworks.com. We aim to respond to all emails within 24hr Mon-Fri.

What are your best sellers and what do you recommend?

Our best sellers are The Mount Espresso for Beans and Ground Coffee and Reserve for Nespresso Compatible Pods. If you're looking for a coffee subscription our best seller is the Roaster's Choice. If you like your espresso strong and on the dark side, we recommend The Firehouse Blend. On the other hand, if you are a milk coffee drinker, we recommend The Mount Blend. The Fullsteam is our signature espresso sourced and ethically traded from Colombia. Our range of Single Origins are specifically roasted for filter.

What does ‘Ethically Traded’ mean?

Volcano has been built on the ethos of ethically-traded coffee.

We pay farmers and coffee-growing communities a significant margin above the fair trade price in return for a premium product. This in turn gives them the means to invest in their farms, resulting in further increases in quality. It’s a process of continual improvement which results in a better life for the coffee-growing communities, and better coffee for you and me!

Want more information?

Talk to me about coffee pods

That's right - our current Coffee Pod capsules, lids and bag packaging are made out of a cornstarch material, which is a 100% bio-based renewable resource! When you've made your coffee, simply place this waste in your local authority food-waste collection bin - the industrial composting process will break down our Pods and packaging in as little as 90 days. For more information on the eco. benefits of our pods see our Environmentally Better page.

For best results, use our Pods with a Coffee Pod machine from Dualit's range or any Nespresso-compatible machine.

How should I store my coffee?

Keep your coffee tasting great by storing it at room temperature in an airtight container.

If we're getting scientific about it, freezing coffee can be a very effective means for storing your beans or ground coffee without compromising quality, but only if you make sure that it is packed in a completely moisture free environment. If you don't have a vac-pack machine, we don't recommend you try this at home.
