We're proud to fuel over 250 of the country's leading speciality coffee shops. Our Volcano hot spots series illuminates their expertise, their passion and their courage. This time, we bring you South East London’s Tiny Brew.
About: Tiny Brew
Situated right inside Blackheath Station, Tiny Brew is an independent coffee shop serving up exceptional speciality coffee as well as homemade cakes and pastries to local commuters. Having opened just 6 months ago, we caught up with Tiny Brew’s owner, Marka, to find out more about the café and why he chose to use Volcano coffee.
Tell us about your business.
I’ve worked in restaurants, cafes and roasteries around London for the past 15 years but felt that it was now time to create something of my own. I found this space, a disused newsagents, in Blackheath station and felt it had loads of potential. After redecorating the café myself, we officially opened in January and have been busy ever since. Being inside a train station has meant we get lots of regulars who we’ve got to know well. For my next venture, I’m looking to set up a coffee school focusing on training up underprivileged kids as baristas.
Why did you choose to work with Volcano?
I’ve used Volcano coffee in many cafes I've worked at over the past 15 years so I’ve got to know the team and their coffee very well. Because of my personal connection to Volcano, I knew they were the natural choice for coffee supplier when I opened up my own place.
Which Volcano coffee do you serve and why?
We serve our own label espresso blend that’s a real crowd pleaser; it’s super chocolatey with a nutty sweetness that customers seem to love. We also serve Piemonte as our filter coffee and sometimes a limited edition coffee to keep things interesting!
What is your most popular coffee order?
Flat Whites are of course a popular choice but we also get a lot of requests for filter coffee, which is my personal favourite.
