We're proud to fuel over 250 of the country's leading speciality coffee shops. Our Volcano hot spots series illuminates their expertise, their passion and their courage. This time, we bring you Central London's The Barbican Cinema Café & Bar.
About: The Barbican
A staple of London’s art scene, The Barbican Centre hosts several art galleries, cinemas and cafés. Within the centre is the Barbican Cinema Café and Bar, offering a quiet space to work, grab a coffee with a friend or enjoy a drink before you catch a viewing at one of their cinema screens.
Tell us about your business.
We are a relatively new café and have evolved our space into an all-day venue where people can come for coffee and some homemade food and cakes. When evening turns around we serve wine, spirits and draught beer.
We cater for people who want to come for a cool place to hang out with friends as well as having day passes where people can come for a place to work and enjoy unlimited hot drinks for only £8!
We also have two cinema screens, and have a cosy environment where people can enjoy a sit-down and some food and drink before going into their screening.
Why did you choose to work with Volcano?
We chose to work with Volcano, because they have quite a high exposure in South London, and seemed trendy, and reflected a ‘look and feel’ that aligns with our vision. Also we're a huge fan of their blends!
What Volcano coffee do you serve?
When we first opened we used the Firehouse Blend. However, recently we have changed to Full Steam Espresso, I feel this blend has the strongest coffee taste and is definitely very popular with the customers.
What is your favourite coffee order to make?
It might be a controversial one, but I would say a mocha! I find that the chocolate is so thick and dark that it allows for really nice coffee art.
