Tastes of Autumn: Toffee Apple Recipe
As the days grow shorter and the weather gets cooler, we naturally turn to small comforts that brighten the everyday. Autumn is the time of year for a little more warmth and indulgence, including in your coffee cup.
Inspired by cosy evenings and a Bonfire Night classic, Toffee Apple is our returning seasonal favourite. This blend of coffees from Peru, Brazil and Uganda brings together toffee sweetness, crisp red apple, warming cinnamon and milk chocolate for a rich, balanced cup.
This week, join our founder, Kurt, as he brews Toffee Apple using a cafetière and shares what makes this seasonal blend so special.
Kurt enjoys Toffee Apple black, allowing its sweetness, crisp apple character and chocolatey depth to come through. It also works brilliantly as espresso, but for this brew he keeps things simple with a cafetière.
Recipe:
Kurt’s Toffee Apple Cafetière Recipe
You’ll need
- 19g Toffee Apple coffee, coarsely ground
- 350ml filtered water heated to 93°C
- A small cafetière
- Digital scales
- A timer
- A spoon
Method
- Rinse the cafetière with hot water to warm the glass, then discard the water.
- Add 19g of coarsely ground Toffee Apple coffee.
- Start your timer and pour in approximately 50ml of water, making sure all the coffee is evenly saturated.
- Give the coffee a gentle stir, then add the remaining 300ml of water.
- Place the lid on top without pressing the plunger and leave the coffee to brew.
- At four minutes, press the plunger down slowly and evenly.
- Pour the coffee straight away and enjoy.
This method brings out Toffee Apple’s rich body and chocolatey warmth while allowing its toffee sweetness, crisp red apple and warming cinnamon notes to come through.
Using a larger cafetière? Use 57g of coffee with 1 litre of water and follow the same four-minute brew time.
A Seasonal Favourite, While It Lasts
Toffee Apple is only here for autumn and stock is running low. Pick up a bag and enjoy a comforting seasonal brew before it’s gone.
