We're proud to fuel over 250 of the country's leading speciality coffee shops. Our Volcano hot spots series illuminates their expertise, their passion and their courage. This time, we bring you South East London’s Cotton Coffee.
About: Cotton’s Coffee
Right in the heart of Peckham Rye, Cotton’s Coffee is a brand new coffee shop serving up exceptional speciality coffee as well as Japanese sandos, treats and drinks. Having opened just a month ago, we caught up with Cotton’s Coffee owner, Sarah, to find out more about the café and why she chose to use Volcano coffee.

Tell us about your business.
Cotton’s is really a space for everyone. Community is really at the heart of it, and coffee is something I just fell into so it ended up being a coffee shop. It’s so new that I really can’t say for sure what Cotton’s Coffee is going to really end up being, but, as a lot of people have noticed, it does have a little Japanese theme. Living in Japan really opened up my eyes to café culture there, how many groups and clubs meet in these spaces and it showed me that community can really be formed in such a wholesome way, so I’m hoping to emulate that in Cotton’s. In keeping with the Japanese theme, we have some exciting drinks and snacks - hojicha lattes and onigiri just to name some! We’ll be expanding on this as Cotton’s becomes more and more established.

Why did you choose to work with Volcano?
It’s their holistic approach towards their customers! It’s something I’ve really appreciated as a new small business that I would have struggled to find elsewhere. I had so many issues when starting up, that I thought I might never open. It was a really hard time, but the team's warmth and kindness really reassured me during this period and I'm so grateful. Their continued support has really given me the courage to keep going.
What Volcano coffee do you serve?
Sombra and I love it! It was honestly love at first sip, I’ve struggled to find an espresso blend that I like as much. It’s also funding such a great project, which makes it even tastier.

What is your favourite coffee order to make?
Cheesy but genuinely one that brings joy to my customers! I love making all coffees but doing it to my best ability and seeing appreciation on a customer's face is really heartwarming.
