Meet The Team: Ben

In this series we're introducing you to the people who make Volcano Coffee Works tick. This time we're sitting down with Volcano's classic football shirt hoarder, part-time plane spotter, Cafe and Retail Manager, Ben.
1. What do you do for Volcano?
You'll usually find me making coffees and struggling for Spotify playlist inspiration at our Brixton roastery.
2. Ok, what do you really do?
I'm responsible for our two south London cafes in West Norwood and Brixton.
3. How do you drink your coffee?
If it's with milk, I'll take an oat flat white. If it's black, a natural Ethiopian please!
4. Cats or dogs?
Dogs. Blows my mind that someone sat around a campfire thousands of years ago thought "Here, I reckon I can get this terrifying beast to roll over if we give it enough spit-roasted boar".
5. What job did you do before this?
I worked in content marketing for close to a decade and then had a third-life crisis and got a trainee barista role in the West Norwood cafe. Fast forward a couple of years and here we are!
6. Who was your biggest celebrity crush as a teenager?
Not sure I can choose between Beyonce and Becks here.
7. What’s some of the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Numbers on a toaster = minutes toasting.
8. What song would you like played at your funeral?
Go With The Flow by Queens of the Stone Age.
10. What in life most annoys you?
Littering. Annoying on so many levels.
11. Tell us something about yourself that may surprise us.
I took part in the National Karting Championships 2010! A birthday go-karting session turned into a very brief but pretty sweet racing career. After flying through three qualifying rounds I knew I was out of my depth when I turned up to the final and saw 14 year-olds emerging from their own custom-designed motorhomes...
