Looking to buy a Baratza Encore Grinder

Understand Your Grinder

The Baratza Encore ESP Grinder is an upgraded version of the classic Encore, designed especially with espresso lovers in mind, but just as capable for pour-over, AeroPress, French press, and drip brewers. The grinder features:

  • 40 grind settings, from fine (1) to coarse (40)
  • M2 conical burrs for consistent grind size
  • Quick release burr for easy cleaning

The lower settings (1–20) are optimized for espresso and finer grinds, while settings 21–40 cover coarser methods like French press or cold brew.

Set Up Your Grinder

Before your first grind:

  1. Plug in the coffee grinder and place it on a level surface.
  2. Ensure the hopper is securely in place and filled with fresh coffee. Order your speciality coffee beans here.
  3. Adjust the grind setting by twisting the hopper ring — lower numbers = finer grinds, higher numbers = coarser.

Choose the Right Grind Setting

Your grind size should match your brewing method. Here’s a quick reference:

Brew Method

Suggested Setting

Espresso/Moka Pot

1–15

AeroPress

6–20

Pour-over

18–28

Drip Coffee Maker

20–30

French Press

30–40

Cold Brew

35–40

Tip: Finding the perfect grind size is a bit of trail and error. Start in the middle of the range for your brew method, then adjust finer or coarser based on taste and brew time.

Grind Your Coffee

  1. Turn the grind dial to your desired setting and switch the grinder on.
  2. Let the coffee grinder run until you’ve ground the desired amount.
  3. Measure your grounds by weight for consistency — a scale helps a lot.

Clean and Maintain

A clean coffee grinder produces better coffee and lasts longer:

  • Brush out excess grounds after each use.
  • Every few weeks, remove the hopper and burrs (as per the manual) for deeper cleaning.
  • Avoid water on the burrs — use dry tools only.

Mastering your grinding is the key to unlocking the full flavour potential of your coffee beans and the Baratza Encore ESP Grinder is the perfect tool to help you do this.
