THE COFFEE YARD, UGANDA

Origin: Uganda
Region: Sironoko District
Varietal: Nyasaland, SL14, SI38
Process: Natural

This month, our Roaster's Choice takes us to the Sironko District in Eastern Uganda.

Situated in the foothills of Mount Elgon, The Coffee Yard harnesses the region’s volcanic soils, high altitudes, and shade trees to cultivate high quality coffees.

The farm is led by Norman Mukuru, a grower with over 20 years of experience specialising in natural process coffees. Named after Norman himself, this Mukuru Florals lot undergoes a meticulous process. The cherries are hand-picked, fermented in sealed barrels, and slowly dried on raised beds for 21 days to develop their unique character.

The result is the perfect all-day drinker, a smooth, mellow cup with a silky mouthfeel. Expect rich notes of milk chocolate and raisin sweetness with a boozy finish of rum.

How long does the coffee last?

Typically, the coffee you’ll receive will have been roasted within 10 days. We recommend the coffee be consumed within 5 weeks (although it can still taste great after this).
What grind should I choose?

Typically, fine grind is for espresso machines however, for low pressure machines like SMEG, Dualit and the smaller Sage machines we recommend medium grind. All other brewing equipment like Cafetiere, Moka Pot, Aeropress, V60 are best with medium grind. Please get in touch if you are having issues with the grind.
How should I brew my coffee?

All of our coffees are suitable for any brew method. Follow our brew guides to find the right one for you. Want some more support? Book a barista course and learn how to brew like a pro.
What if I am not happy?

We always love to hear from you and consider feedback a gift whether it's good or bad. If you are missing an item or have received an incorrect or damaged item, please contact us immediately by emailing our team at orders@volcanocoffeeworks.com.As coffee is a perishable product, we're unable to take any returns once dispatched. However, we recommend trying a 200g bag on your first order and if you don't like it, you can return it via our can Taste Guarantee policy. We aim to respond to all emails within 24hr Mon-Fri. When will I get my order?

Orders are despatched the next working day. Any subscription order is dispatched by Royal Mail 48hr.
